Meet Markus: Our New Tool that Turns Your Words Into Wax Seals in Seconds
Picture this, you've found the perfect envelope for your wedding invitations. The paper is beautiful, the calligraphy is written and every detail is exactly right…except one. You need a wax seal. Your wax seal. Something with your initials and a delicate floral border that feels like it was made just for you.
So you open up ChatGPT, type in a description and a minute later you've got something that looks actually pretty good? You send it over to us, full of excitement.
…and then we have to break the news to you.
If you'd asked us a few years ago how most people sent in their stamp designs to us for engraving, the answer was simple. They would typically have worked with a designer or sketched something themselves. There was real intention behind it, and we loved that.
Here's the truth though, not everyone has a designer in their back pocket. For years, the gap between having an idea and having a file was bridged only by those with access to Photoshop, Illustrator or the budget to hire someone who did. AI has genuinely changed that. It's put creative possibility into the hands of people who never had it before and that's something we find hard to argue with.
What we can say though is this.
A generic AI image and a stamp-ready design are two very different things.
More than half of the custom submissions we receive now are AI-generated, and the vast majority need significant rework before they're anywhere close to press-ready. The shading won't survive engraving and the text becomes illegible at stamp size. Fine detail disappears entirely when pressed into wax, and it's nobody's fault it's just that those tools simply weren't built with a custom stamp in mind.
So rather than converting designs that customers already thought were finished (which more often than not causes unnecessary delays and disappointment on both sides), we asked ourselves a better question. What if we built something that meets people where they are and takes them somewhere better?
That's Markus.
An AI tool built specifically for stamps, by the people who've made hundreds of thousands of them.
So, What Exactly IS Markus?
Markus is our brand-new stamp design tool, built right into stamptitude.com. The idea behind it is almost deceptively simple.
You describe what you want. Markus creates it.
Type something like "two swans forming a heart with a floral border" and in about 30 seconds, you're looking at a finished stamp design presented on a realistic mockup in a colour of your choosing. Your design on a stamp before you've spent a single penny.
No templates, no waiting around.
Just words in, wax seal out.
Why "Markus"?
If you've ever received a shipping notification from us, you may already know him.

Sigillius Waximus has been our beloved (fan-named) mascot since 2016. He's a regal, Julius Caesar-esque stamp character, brimming with pride and being pulled across the world by snail and carriage. He was born from a very real logistical reality, our stamps travel over 15,000km from Hong Kong to reach customers in New York, London and Toronto.
Where Sigillius represents the journey of your stamp to your door, Markus represents the moment before. The moment your idea becomes a design. In the world of engraving, your mark is everything. It's your signature pressed into wax.
Markus is the one who helps you envision it.
How It Works (In Three Simple Steps)
Step 1: Describe Your Design
Visit stamptitude.com/markus — no account needed, no sign-up. Just tell Markus what you're imagining. A few words is all it takes, though the more detail you give the more personal your result.
Here are some real prompts that have been used:
- "letter M with olive branches"
- "a golden retriever portrait"
- "medieval dragon wrapped around a tower with thorny vines"
- "two skeleton hands holding a burning candle"
- "formal portrait of a pigeon in a business suit"
That last one honestly turned out quite incredible.
Step 2: See Your Design on a Wax Seal
In about 30 seconds, your design will appear on a photorealistic wax seal mockup. You'll see exactly how it looks pressed into actual wax.
Choose your wax colour. Admire it. Show it to your partner. Screenshot it and send your proud new creation to the group chat.
Step 3: Order (or Try Again)
Love what you see? Click 'Order This Design' and you'll land on the product page with your design already attached. Choose your stamp size and handle style, add to cart, and you're done. Your unique design reference number travels with your order all the way to our production team.
Don't love it? Generate another one. Your first three designs are completely free — no commitment, no catch.
What Can Markus Actually Create?
Honestly, we've been testing this for weeks and we keep surprising ourselves. Here's a taste of what a single text prompt can produce:
The Wedding Monogram
"Elegant intertwined initials A and J with delicate rose border"
The kind of monogram that makes wedding guests want to keep the envelope.
The Family Crest
"Heraldic shield with two lions, a crown, and a banner reading 'Famiglia Romano'"
The Pet Portrait
"French bulldog portrait with laurel wreath"
The Botanical
"Single peony flower, detailed botanical illustration"
For the cottagecore romantics, the gardeners and the people who just really, deeply love peonies.
The Heirloom
"Tree of life with roots below mirroring the branches above, small birds nesting in the canopy"
A Few Questions You Might Be Asking
Is it really free?
Your first 3 designs are completely free. No account, no credit card, no 'free trial' small print. After that, you have the option to purchase credit packs.
Is my design unique?
Yes. Every design is generated fresh from your specific description. No templates
Can I use Markus for embossers and ice stamps?
Wax seal mockups are live right now, and embosser and ice stamp previews are on their way very soon.
What if I already have a logo or design file?
You can upload it directly.
Markus has an upload tab that converts reference images into stamp-ready engraving designs. You can also skip Markus entirely and use our standard custom design upload tool if you have a print-ready file already on hand.
This Is Just the Beginning
Markus doesn't change what we do. Every stamp is still made by our team, by hand, with the same care it's always been made with. Markus aids with the design, human hands make the stamp.
What Markus changes is the entry point. For over a decade, we've watched people get stuck at the design stage, not because they didn't have a vision but because they didn't have the tools to express it. Markus helps to bridge that gap.
If you've been wanting a custom stamp for a while but never quite had a design ready, consider this your free invitation.
