Supporting the Crossroads Foundation

Today we visited the Crossroads Foundation for a quick tour and to pledge our donation of $4,836 which was raised by you, our customers as part of the Cyber Monday sales.

At the entrance we passed a large stack of 20ft shipping containers being loaded with goods. We later learned that these were all brand new goods donated by companies like Nike and Marks & Spencer that were being dispatched all around the world to help people in war damaged regions, victims of illegal trafficking and also supplies such as building materials and medical provisions to aid in disaster relief.

One of Crossoads' key projects is their Global handicrafts in which they work with 30 different charitable groups in over 24 countries to provide a trading point for global fairtrade goods, most of which are handmade by people in need. We met Sally (pictured below) who works closely with the team in Sri Lanka that aids young girls in their escape from the illegal sex trafficking trade and teaches them how to craft their own jewellery as a source of viable income. She told us the story of one inspiring young lady they had rescued who is now using the skills that she learned to make garments for popular Hollywood movies.

Although the amount we raised is enough to make a small impact, our contribution is not nearly as valuable as the time and dedication that all the volunteers we met and spoke to put into helping the foundation on a daily basis.

If you have been inspired by any of the work that the Crossroads Foundation does and would like to make a contribution of your own or just simply learn more about what they do and to help spread the word, please visit their website www.crossroads.org.hk

We would like to thank everyone again who participated in our Cyber Monday campaign and encourage you to appreciate the things that are taken for granted, especially over the coming holiday period.

As always, be kind to one another and cherish the time that you spend with your family and friends.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

Oli, June & Milly
